Lauren Blair Consulting (LBC) represents senior executives and other high-level employees in negotiating financial compensation, equity and other non-financial benefits and awards, as well as in negotiating and drafting employment agreements, restrictive covenants, early termination/retirement agreements and separation agreements. If necessary, Ms. Blair also arbitrates employment-related matters for executives including breach of contract, wrongful termination and other arbitrable claims against employers.
EMPLOYMENT POLICIES & PRACTICES DEVELOPMENT
LBC helps develop and implement smart workplace policies and practices that comply with governing laws and reduce the risk of claims and lawsuits by employees, independent contractors and other individuals and entities that work for and with businesses. Customized workplace policies, procedures and forms include job applications, employee handbooks, personnel policies and protocols, performance evaluation forms, performance assessment/improvement plans, leave of absence forms and disciplinary action forms, among others. WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS
LBC guides employers in conducting prompt and thorough investigations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other workplace complaints, and helps companies respond to and resolve employee- and government agency-led claims. LBC works closely with employers and their human resources/personnel departments to properly investigate, interview, document and implement corrective measures, if necessary, in order to achieve expedient and efficient resolutions. LBC also offers litigation support services, including defense strategy consultation, claims/damages analysis and expert witness engagement.
WORKFORCE AUDITS
LBC conducts workplace audits to ensure compliance with exempt and non-exempt overtime classifications, independent contractor classifications, government agency posters and other employee-notice requirements, record-keeping rules, documentation best practices and other Equal Employment Opportunity and wage and hour laws. LBC develops job descriptions, employee handbooks and other employment policies and practices to help employers properly notify, classify and pay their workforce and minimize the risk of employment-related liability.
BUSINESS COUNSELING CONSULTING SERVICES
CONTRACT REVIEW, NEGOTIATION & CREATION
LBC reviews and drafts general business and commercial contracts, and advises clients in contract negotiation, strategy and risk analysis in order to maximize protection for businesses and business owners. LBC also reviews, revises and creates standard business forms, such as proposals, offer letters, invoices, purchase orders, sales contracts, licenses, warranties, limitations of liability and other disclaimers.
IN-HOUSE COUNSEL SERVICES
LBC provides businesses with off-site services similar to in-house counsel services including proactively assessing and managing risks, conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing key corporate correspondence, advising on employment matters, advising on disputes and litigation matters, participating in meetings/conference calls and handling other general business legal work. In-house counsel services are offered for a set monthly fee (excluding required travel expenses), allowing for yearly planning and budgeting of legal fees and strategies.
